no IP, no tracking cookies, no logging – EVER!
“While the search engines give your IP and other info away, and Google loses its fight with the govt, don’t you think you should search by proxy?
“Black Box searches return proxied results, which (if you dont click on too much ad junk) will not create any tracking cookies on your machine, nor reveal your IP address when typing in the search. You can freely navigate the links for the result pages through our proxy. (Notice the blackbox link at the top of the page when you click on the next search results.) You can also use the search boxes on the results pages to quickly do another search.”
Anchor Link ChaCha

“ChaCha is available online and on your phone with information when you need it…any time, anywhere. Other services scan the Internet and return the thousands of pages that mathematically match your query. But, because our Guides are human, they can infer exactly what you need and provide the most relevant answers. Just try typing ‘last night’s Illinois college basketball game score’ in a regular search engine. You’ll get a lot of responses, but wouldn’t it be better to just get who won and the score? That’s the innovation ChaCha is bringing to the world — adding the ability to harness the power of the Internet and provide answers when you need them most. Try it now in any of three ways:
1. MOBILE SEARCH – Even laptops can’t always be everywhere, so ChaCha is there to help you get answers (or find the closest cup of coffee) when you’re on the go. Just text your question to 242242 and we’ll be there with the answer…OR
2. LIVE GUIDED SEARCH – Not finding what you need with a search engine? Get a ChaCha Guide — a real person who asks you questions, understands exactly what you want, and sends you results that are dead-on. The brainpower behind ChaCha…OR
3. INSTANT SEARCH – Just like all those other search engines… only better. Because ChaCha keeps getting smarter. Our search experts are constantly handpicking cool, hard-to-find sites so you get only the best, most relevant results.”

“Here’s a rough and ready way to search the GRC web site using Google. There are three options (via 3 search boxes):
1. Searches all of www.GRC.com web site¹, plus my No Regrets page, and Dutch’s GRC help pages (not his GRC News Gateway) at 12078.net/grc/*.
2. Searches all of www.GRC.com web site¹ excluding the Security Now! archives (because there is such a mass of varied info there, that its search results can tend – depending on the search terms – to overwhelm stuff Steve has done and written up, rather than talked about).
3. Searches only the Security Now! archives (because there is such a mass of varied info there … 😉
¹ Except areas blocked by robots.txt, like the (presently down) GRC News UI.

Firefox provides a way to search specific websites directly from the Firefox Location bar called Smart keywords. Based on this, the SearchThisSite searchbar works by determining the search field and the search URL for the page. Every website is designed differently and its search field, if any, positioned and accessible differently as well. If you use the SearchThisSite addon instead, you just access it quickly with your mouse (keyboard shortcut: ALT+Q for the power users) and enter/submit your query.”
